After (apparently) not doing very much for a long time we will finally be releasing Something New later this month.

It contains music we have done with Anna Blessman and Peter Saville for their Swing Project 1 exhibition.

This vinyl 12 inch + CD EP combo also called Swing includes mixes by the fantastic Factory Floor.

The original idea for the music was that it should give the impression that some sort of European Techno party was going on in a nearby room. So that while wandering around the show you would be enticed by this non existent dance floor.

That was the theory anyway and its why bits on the 12 inch may sound like they are being played next door, it was a “Concept” . You can listen to the 2 tracks on the Soundcloud player and see for yourself.

As this is a Soundtrack thing it doesn’t feature much of what may pass for singing (although Gillian has been vocalising on other stuff which, with a bit of luck will be out before too long)

You can order Swing from http://bit.ly/oS9lRC.

or http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/artist.php?artist=Gillian+And+Stephen

Signed copies will be available until we run out of Sharpies

Downloads will be available from Amazon and Itunes

It looks like Swing will be available in the USA and elsewhere.

Will post more info once we have it

Track listing is

12 inch

1-Swing Inside (show mix)

2-Swing Outside (show mix)

CD

1-Swing Robot

2-FF mix Dom

3-Swing Low

4-FF mix Gabe

5-Swing Inside

6-FF mix Nic

Hi There

Sorry it’s been a while since we updated the site,it was beginning to suffer from the internet equivalent of tumbleweed.

So here is some information to accompany the tracks on the site.(better late than never)

Satisfied was the B side of the Love To Infinity 12 inch remix of Innocence. It only ever got released properly in America although I think we did try giving it away in the UK without much success-Oh well

Cold Feet was the original soundtrack version of the track found on Superhighways

Common As Muck is the soundtrack version of New Horizons from Superhighways and was of course the theme tune from the TV show of the same name.

Culver’s Edge was a thing we did for Common As Muck that later got turned into the song The River from Superhighways, it was a bit of “an old dustman achieves victory in a kind of Sergio Leone Style” piece I found quite moving.

Jonno and Sean another Common As Muck bit this was for a “burglary goes a bit wrong” scene. We thought it didn’t sound too bad after all this time.

You Can Fly-Quake Vocal Mix is a now hard to find,if it was ever easy to find, remix.

Sawdust is a bit of an odd one.It started life as one of a bunch of remixes Moby did of Movin’ On from The Other Two And You.The idea was what would it sound like if Kraftwerk (or someone like them) ever pursued a career in Country and Western? The record company on hearing the remix thought that there was vaguest whiff of a HIT about it but more work was needed. So more work we did. It never got released as Gillian, very wisely, refused to sing with a pig under her arm. We never did get to Nashville.

Autosound don’t know quite what went wrong with this one as it very nearly became a song on Superhighways,it had lyrics and everything even an alternative title which was The End Of The World. We must have got bored of it or something-that can happen

Meanwhile work continues on new stuff and also on listening through lots of various mystery tapes, you know the ones that have become orphaned from their boxes with no indication of what they might contain.

We’ll post some of the more interesting finds up here shortly.

Hello and welcome to our website.

We decided that, seeing as how our friend James over at LTM had reissued The Other Two’s back catalogue, now would be as good a time as any to do some kind of Internet thing (it’s gonna be big that internet you know) so here it is.

The plan for the the future is for us to put together a soundtrack record, but as that was the plan for both previous Other Two albums don’t be surprised if it doesn’t quite turn out like that.

Meanwhile we will be putting various bits that didn’t make the reissues plus the odd soundtrack thing on the site, there’s some here now…….

Hope you enjoy them.

Oh and the videos, they are all here as well somewhere-all 4 and a bit of them.

There are some interesting video facts plus the videos themselves at the video section. Please have a look.

LTM present expanded CD editions of two albums by The Other Two, the electronic pop duo comprising Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert of New Order.

The Other Two came into being in 1990, spurred by Morris and Gilbert’s work on television soundtracks, and a temporary lull in New Order activity in which Electronic and Revenge also released albums. First album The Other Two & You features ten original synth-pop gems produced by the duo with Stephen Hague, with surprise vocals by Gillian, showcased on the singles Tasty Fish and Selfish.

Originally scheduled for release on Factory Records in late 1992, The Other Two & You was delayed by the collapse of the label, and instead emerged on London in 1993. This expanded edition features all tracks from the original Factory/London album as well as six bonus tracks from companion singles, including superb mixes by Moby, Pascal Gabriel and Boys Own.

The album also includes Loved It, originally released as a free CD to celebrate the opening of the controversial Factory HQ building on Charles Street (Manchester) in September 1990. The remastered CD runs for 76 minutes, and features new artwork and detailed sleevenotes.

Super Highways, their second album, followed in 1999. Produced by O2 with Tim Oliver, vocals are shared by Gillian and Melanie Williams, best known for her guest vocal on the hit Sub Sub single Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use). The title track was also released as a single, featuring remixes by Andy Votel and Cevin Fisher.

This expanded edition features all tracks from the original album as well as three bonus tracks from companion singles, including a rare mix of Tasty Fish by K-Klass. The remastered CD runs for 76 minutes, the booklet features archive images and detailed sleevenotes.

Please note these CD’s are not for sale in North America and Canada.
